A perennial, evergreen subshrub with woody branches, greyish leaves, and blue to purplish flowers, Salvia officinalis, is sometimes known as common sage or simply sage. It is a native of the Mediterranean region and a member of the mint family Lamiaceae, though it has naturalised in many other parts of the world.

Cymbopogon, a genus of Asian, African, Australian, and tropical island plants, is also known as lemongrass, barbed wire grass, silky heads, Cochin grass, Malabar grass, oily heads, citronella grass, or fever grass.
